CTR/Hayco is a multinational manufacturing company looking for an Chemical Engineer to join our Production team in Portugal.

Job Purpose

The Chemical Engineer is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the chemical manufacturing area, ensuring that all production activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory, quality, and environmental standards. The role ensures optimal use of resources, coordination of production teams, adherence to operating procedures, and consistent delivery of products that meet specification.

Job Responsabilities

  • Supervise formulation and blending processes, ensuring strict control of all critical parameters.
  • Guarantee full compliance with technical specifications and product standards.
  • Monitor key process variables, including temperature, viscosity, pH, reaction times, and other critical metrics.
  • Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Analyze deviations affecting quality, efficiency, or process stability.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured methodologies such as RCA, 5 Why, and Ishikawa.
  • Implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Use statistical data and process analysis to strengthen process robustness and reliability.
  • Lead Lean improvement initiatives focused on reducing cycle times, waste, losses, and process variability.
  • Reduce rework and non‑value‑added activities through systematic process optimization.
  • Contribute to improving the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the formulation area.
  • Coordinate and supervise formulation technicians and operators.
  • Develop the technical competencies of the team through training, coaching, and daily operational support.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience on manufacturing environment, production supervision roles
  • Experience with liquids, detergents or similars
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Deep knowledge of chemical process variables
  • Ability to interpret production data and performance indicators
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and chemical handling
